Barcelona, more than a club

Més que un club (More than a club) is Barcelona's philosophy and with a team banging in the goals on the pitch, one of the best stadiums in the world and a range of comfortable and stylish clothing on the market, they're right!

Happy then, were we, when a brand new Barcelona home shirt and heavyweight sweater arrived on our doorstep.

One of the most distinctive shirts on the market, the Barcelona strip has undergone something of a transformation this year, moving away from the Red and Blue stripes of old and choosing a 'half-and-half' style design.

The shirt is reverting back to the popular version used when the club first began to play professionally - also showcased in 1999, the year of the club's centenary - and, although it is a bit different, it still looks cool.

As with all kits these days it offers some impressive technology. Made with NikeFITDRY and Dri-FIT moisture control and wicking weave, plus a mesh inner lining, the shirt keeps you dry and comfortable and overall it is lightweight and a joy to play in.

You might feel like Lionel Messi or Thierry Henry, but something to take into consideration is the fact that this is one of the few shirts not to parade a sponsor on the front.

What's that you say? There's a big advert on the front? Indeed, but instead of being paid by UNICEF (The United Nations Children's Fund), Barcelona is donating money to them. So, sort of a reverse sponsorship!

If you want something to wear over the shirt, the club also offer a sweat and a training top rolled into one.

A crew neck thermal top with embroidered Barcelona team design on the front, the material feels slightly odd to touch, but is actually really comfortable. Made of 60/40 cotton/polyester it's pretty snug and is perfect to wear before you start charging around the pitch, especially in winter conditions.

Ultimately, you're probably not going to choose either if you don't like the club. However, if, like me, you have been to the stadium and fallen in the love with the team's style of football, then the fact that both shirts are stylish and comfortable is just an added bonus.
