Hangzhou Greentown's Tim Cahill set to continue Chinese Super League stay

Socceroos' star Tim Cahill is reportedly set to stay in China with at least three clubs interested in signing him up for next season.

Australia's all-time leading goal scorer was earmarked by A-League clubs and Football Federation Australia as a potential marquee signing for next season as he will be available as a free agent in July, Fairfax Media reports.

That's at the expiration of his existing deal with Huangzhou Greentown.

But Cahill's management has ruled out a move to Australia as the 36-year-old striker will likely remain in China until 2017 with some big clubs set to make their moves.

Fairfax says it understands Huangzhou are eager to keep Cahill and another option is a potential return to Shanghai.

Cahill's agent Ante Alilovic said he was "very confident Cahill will be staying in China next season" and that there were three clubs interested in him.

A minor hamstring injury means Cahill is in doubt to play for the Socceroos in the two-game friendly series against Greece in June in Sydney and Melbourne.
