Chapecoense have sacked their manager, Vagner Mancini, after five matches without a victory, including Monday's 3-3 draw vs. Fluminense.
Assistant coach Emerson Cris will be in charge of the club in the interim, the club said a via news release on Tuesday.
"Our directors recognize and value the professional work done by Vagner Mancini in the process of rebuilding our club and obtaining important results in the 2017 season," club president Plinio David De Nes Filho said.
Mancini was named to coach the club in December of 2016 after the airline tragedy that killed 71.
In 2005, he led Paulista to the Brazilian Cup title and he has experience coaching big clubs such as Gremio, Santos, Vasco da Gama, Cruzeiro, and Botafogo.
Chapecoense have 14 points and sit 15th in the league after going top in May following three straight wins. They are now battling to retain their first-division status. They next face Atletico Paranaense on July 9.
They are playing the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their 43-year history.
