Thomas Tuchel wary of Borussia Dortmund's trip to China

Thomas Tuchel is not entirely happy with Borussia Dortmund's upcoming tour of China, telling reporters it was "a voyage into the unknown."

Dortmund are to take part in the International Champions Cup on their upcoming tour of China. They will play Manchester United in Shanghai on July 22 and meet Pep Guardiola's Manchester City six days later in Shenzhen.

Speaking to reporters at the weekend, the Dortmund manager said that he is not altogether happy with travelling to Asia during preseason.

"We'll do a short training block in Dortmund, because we know which facilities we can use there. That's very important," Tuchel said at the side of Borussia's 1-0 friendly defeat at TSV 1860 Munich on Saturday.

"It's always a journey into the unknown even though it might be planned perfectly," Tuchel said of the upcoming trip to China.

"We'll play our first match right after our arrival, but sadly have to wait a long time for the second, and the jet lag will hit us at one point. We have to compensate for it and cope with it like we did during our tour of Asia last year. But this tour is longer, and we can't waive it. That's not possible."

Dortmund will have most of their current squad available when they begin their nine-day trip.

New signings Marc Bartra and Emre Mor as well as Roman Burki, Nuri Sahin and United States international Christian Pulisic will resume training on Tuesday, with only European champion Raphael Guerreiro, Germany international Julian Weigl and the two Polish players Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski missing out on the trip due to their involvement at Euro 2016.
