Pierluigi Collina, who was also born on this day in 1960, took charge of the 2002 World Cup final between Brazil and Germany. Before the final took place, Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn told the Irish Times: "Collina is a world-class referee, there's no doubt about that, but he doesn't bring luck, does he?" Kahn had lost two big games under Collina before -- the 1999 Champions League final, 2-1 to Manchester United, and a 5-1 defeat to England in 2001 -- and it happened again as Brazil ran out 2-0 winners in the International Stadium, Yokohama -- Cris Freddi
