What we have here is, undoubtedly, the worst penalty you will see today. It came 15 minutes into Gent's 0-2 defeat against Waasland-Beveren in the Belgian top flight this weekend, with Gent captain and striker Ilombe Mboyo stepping up and wafting his spot-kick wide of the goal with all the force of a butterfly fart...



Mboyo's penalty was so bad that the Gent captain was forced to come back out onto the pitch after the game and apologise to the fans in person...



A public apology? That's when you really know you've made a hash of things!

After sheepishly sidling back out into the stadium, Mboyo told the Gent fans: "I am the club captain. I want respect. I play all the time at 100%. I missed a penalty, but it happens. I did not mean to. I wanted to score."

Glad you cleared that one up Ilombe as, looking at the footage, it's not immediately apparent!
