Video: Shakhtar's Luiz Adriano obviously not a big believer in 'Fair Play' protocol

Having called a halt to proceedings to deal with a fairly namby-pamby off-the-ball collision, the referee in charge of last night's Champions League fixture between Nordsjaelland and Shakhtar Donetsk restarted play - as is convention - with an uncontested drop-ball, the idea being that, in the name of fair play, Shakhtar's Willian was to hoof the ball back to Nordsjaelland 'keeper Jesper Hansen and play begin again from there.

Unfortunately, Shakhtar striker Luiz Adriano had other ideas...

Adriano reportedly told his coach after the game: "[I did it because] I'm a striker, I have the natural instinct to score.”

Now admittedly Adriano was technically well within his rights to chase after the ball, skip around the keeper and roll it into the net to open the scoring - there are no laws against it, though it does make him a total arse.

As can been seen in the video, Shahktar then initially allowed Nordsjaelland to walk an equaliser in directly from kick-off to even things up, only for them to abandon that plan with the ball halfway towards their goal as Taras Stepanenko nabbed possession and ran off.

A truly fantastic show of sportsmanship all round!
