Video: Argentine player booked before kickoff for bringing dog onto pitch

In what possibly might be the earliest yellow card ever administered, San Lorenzo captain Pablo Alvarado was booked several minutes before kickoff of his side's 1-0 win over Boca Juniors in the Argentinian Primera Liga on Sunday for one of the most bizarre infringements ever seen on a football pitch.

For unknown reasons, Alvarado paraded his dog onto the pitch as the teams emerged from the tunnel. After spending several minutes telling Alvarado to return the unofficial club mascot to the sidelines, the referee booked the defender for time-wasting.

Now there's something you don't see every day . . . unless of course, you happen to follow South American football; where utter madness like this is a nigh-on weekly occurrence!
