Video: Tajikistan Premier League game descends into chaos as both teams and majority of crowd attack referee

The recent Tajikistan Premier League game between Istaravshan FK and Energetik Dushanbe had to be aborted after 81 minutes when a controversial goal lit the blue touch paper and sparked a riot that saw the referee attacked by both sets of players and a large majority of the crowd.

With the game square at 1-1 and the final whistle just nine minutes from sounding, the referee allowed an Istaravshan goal to stand despite cries of offside, a decision which incensed Energetik, who crowded around the official to whine - with the irate 'keeper even aiming a kick at the man in charge.

The ref, who suddenly looked and presumably felt incredibly lonely out there in the middle of Istaravshan's 20,000-capacity stadium, then sent off two of the Energetik players for dissent - a decision that immediately proved to not be up there with the best he'd ever made...

An all-encompassing brawl broke out, players from both sides attacked the referee and a pitch invasion between two brawling sets of fans engulfed the pitch, leading to the game being thrown out by the Tajik Football Federation.
