Video: Portsmouth game abandoned due to monsoon

Portsmouth's League Two game against Wycombe had to be abandoned after 45 minutes last night when, toward the end of the first half, the heavens opened and a monsoon of biblical proportions engulfed Fratton Park.

Shortly after referee Lee Collins performed perhaps the most unnecessary pitch inspection of all time at the break and decided to call the game off, the torrential rain storm was captured on film by sodden fans as they traipsed out of the ground...

Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "damp squib".

Indeed, Fratton Park came in for such a wet and wild battering that the players' tunnel was left completely submerged after the storm passed, which certainly made for a dramatic photo -- though we can't imagine the Pompey ground staff were particularly impressed!
