Video: Russian linesman gets lifetime ban for storming pitch & battering player

The Russian Football Union have doled out a lifetime ban to a Chechen linesman who was caught on camera running onto the pitch and giving an 18-year-old player a good hiding during Sunday's reserve game between local Grozny-based sides Terek and Amkar Perm.

It's being reported linesman Musa Kadyrov was verbally abused by Amkar defender Ilya Krichmar toward the end of the game, lost his rag (or should that be "flag"?) and went storming onto the pitch to give the little (alleged) git what for -- delivering a couple of choice blows to the young right-back before the attack was broken up...

On Tuesday, the RFU announced Kadyrov had been banned from officiating for life and fined to the tune of 500,000 rubles (approx. $16,000/£10,000) for committing a "direct attack on players which could have caused a real risk to their health".

"Kadyrov must pay the fine out of his own pocket," committee head Artur Grigoryants told the press.

The alleged instigator didn't get off scot-free either, with Krichmar found guilty of "unsportsmanlike conduct", fined and suspended for four matches -- which means, as Amkar only have four fixtures left, he's effectively banned for the rest of the campaign.
