Video: Indonesian ref hospitalised after being sucker punched over iffy penalty decision

Indonesian striker Pieter Rumaropen is currently staring down the barrel of a significantly large ban after putting a referee in hospital with a left-hook for having the temerity to award a penalty against his team, Persiwa Wamena.

Periswa were tied at 1-1 with Pelita Bandung Raya with just seven minutes of the Indonesian Super League game remaining when referee Muhaimin adjudged a seemingly fair tackle to be spot kick-worthy.

Raging at the injustice that was unfolding before his very eyes, Rumaropen then cavorted up behind the unsuspecting official and threw a nasty sucker punch into his face, which duly broke the official's nose and left him needing hospital treatment.

The game was then halted for 15 mins before a replacement referee made his way out onto the pitch and showed Rumaropen the red card he had earned quarter of an hour previous.
