Video: PSV's Erik Pieters night ends in hospital after being sent-off and punching window

Playing his first game after a nine-month injury lay-off, PSV defender Erik Pieters ended Friday's game against PEC Zwolle back in the hospital from whence he came after the Dutch centre-half - irate having been dismissed for a fairly soft 67th-minute red card - stormed up the tunnel at the Philips Stadion and put his fist through a window on his way to the dressing room...

(The action begins at the 0:12 mark, but those of a squeamish disposition be warned: there is blood all over the shop!)

In the act of wreaking defenestration upon the stadium, Pieters suffered a gruesome laceration to his forearm (there is a photo of his carved-up arm doing the rounds this morning; we can assure you that it is NOT for the faint-hearted) and was losing so much blood that he was rushed to hospital on a stretcher immediately.

Maybe bring a pillow with you next time champ!
