It's taken all of 10 days but Manchester City have finally unveiled their first big-name signing of the January transfer window, bringing in celebrity chef Jamie Oliver in on a multi-million pound, five-year deal.

City have signed a deal with Oliver's Fabulous Feasts catering firm, which will see them providing all the matchday fayre at The Etihad's various grub outlets - the public concessions booths, hospitality suites and all the bits and bobs in the City Square fan zone - starting in July.

A word of warning: Oliver and his team of gastronauts should think long and hard before implementing a new esoteric menu of blue cheese and pinecone filo baubles, tarmac-glazed veal and homebrewed radish and seaweed ale at The Etihad.

It's unlikely to go down overly well with the average football fan, who tends to favour the grease-swathed burger, the room-temperature 'miscellaneous meat' pie and a nice plastic glass of gnat wazz lager to wash it all down with.

Of course, Oliver himself isn't expected to break into the City first-team right away, but he'll probably still get more minutes on the pitch than Scott Sinclair before their respective contracts run out.
