QPR prove point despite jittery display

Two games in and QPR have the first point on the board, but perhaps more importantly there are signs that the deluge of last week was a one-off.

A change of formation from the 4-5-1 of last week as Bobby Zamora came back into the side to partner Djibril Cisse up front in a 4-4-2 that was appropriate against an industrial Canaries side.

However, it was always going to be the back four that would be under the most pressure against a team that score almost half of their goals from crosses.

And when Simoen Jackson was allowed a free header half a yard out for the opener after just 11 minutes, we all expected the worst.

QPR were perhaps fortunate to get a penalty in their first significant attack on the Norwich goal - not because it wasn't a penalty because it was, but the presence of Mark Clattenburg never makes these things guaranteed.

As the game went on, there was a sense that a team that spent most of last week as strangers had spent some time in the interim in each other's company.

Perhaps the largest positive was Jose Bosingwa's debut in the last 20 minutes which looked assured. Although the fact that Grant Holt again managed to persuade yellow cards out of Clattenburg for our two starting central defenders tells us all we need to know about why Mark Hughes will be hunting down at least one central defender in the next six days.

And the biggest silver lining? When do we ever get anything at Carrow Road? A positive point indeed.
