22.57 BST: Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones is considering a second loan move for Connor Wickham, after the Sunderland striker spent a month at Hillsborough last season. He told the Sheffield Star: "I'm sure their new manager [Paolo Di Canio] will want to have a look at what Connor has got. It is something we would be interested in if it came around, but it is far too early to even contemplate it at the moment."

22.02 BST: Ipswich Town's decision to sign Christophe Berra has left free agent Titus Bramble in limbo. The former Sunderland defender will now not sign for the Tractor Boys and must try and find another club.

21.33 BST: New Swansea striker Wilfried Bony is having to go Dutch. He has still not been granted a work permit for his move from Vitesse Arnhem so is having to train with his former club to build up his pre-season fitness.

20.57 BST: Atletico Madrid captain Gabi is ecstatic that the club managed to snare David Villa from Barcelona. “Villa is a world class player,” he said. “His is a magnificent signing. It is too early to say whether we are better than we were last year, but we have added well with the arrival of Villa and Martin Demichelis."

20.23 BST: Milan vice president Andriano Galliani has Sky Sport Italia that the deal for Ajax's Kevin Strootman will prove to be shrewd business at €16.5 million. “We had tracked Strootman, but did not have €20m. Roma made a great deal, as this is a player of the very highest level.”

20.02 BST: Jeffrey Bruma says he is ignoring the fact Chelsea have a buy-back clause after he moved to Dutch club PSV Eindhoven. After all, if the Premier League club invoke it that means he has been a success in the Eredivisie.

19.41 BST DONE DEAL: Ipswich Town have signed centre-back Christophe Berra on a two-year deal. He was a free agent after his contract at relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers expired.

19.22 BST: Zoltan Gera, currently on his way back from a long-term knee injury and officially without a club, is still hopeful of signing a new deal at West Brom after travelling with the rest of the squad on their pre-season tour.

19.09 BST: A little bit more Stoke news now, and their interest in Hannover's former Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf is yet to get off the ground, according to the Bundesliga club. They are trying to tie the player to a new contract, and sporting director Dirk Dufner told Bild: "I see the opportunities still not bad. At the moment, Mame will not sign. It is not bad if he waits for the end of the transfer period, then signs just after August 31."

18.47 BST: Sky Sports is reporting that Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner is wanted by a host of Premier League clubs.

18.22 BST: Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen, 37, could soon be on the move as he finds himself behind Asmir Begovic and Jack Butland at the Britannia. Sorensen told "If there was something interesting we would, of course, look at it. However, at present there is nothing concrete. I'm not looking to move at any cost."

17.47 BST: Lucas Biglia, on the verge of a move from Anderlecht to Lazio, has spoken of his joy after arriving at the Italian club's summer training camp - though the move is not yet official. "I'm really happy, everything has been agreed. Finally I can stay with my new team-mates", he told Corriere dello Sport. "I thank Lazio for signing me and taking me to Italy, and to have given me this opportunity."

17.28 BST: Marca rather hilariously have run an article saying Gareth Bale is very interested in joining Manchester United even though Andre Villas Boas has said he is not for sale. But to qualify the piece, in case they're wrong, they've said all their information has come from the UK's Daily Star newspaper.

17.22 BST: The man who took down the mighty Barcelona at Celtic Park last season has been turned down a move to St Mirren on loan. Tony Watt who scored a last minute winner against Barcelona on his Champions League debut is wanted at Celtic by boss Neil Lennon as he looks to add to his attacking options.

17.10 BST: Roma are set to sign Gervinho next week according to Sky Sport Italia. Apparently the Rome club have had two bids of €6m turned down but have now agreed a fee and the deal is expected to go through at some point next week. Music to Arsenal fans' ears.

17.04 BST: Rafa Benitez has been a busy man this summer with Napoli interested in anyone and everyone as the Spaniard has tried to put his own mark on the Partonepei squad. He has finally broken his silence and told Gazzetto Dello Sport he is very interested in Leandro Damaio. He said, "Damiao is very good. Two attackers will arrive: one who is more of a centre-forward and the other a support striker."

16.54 BST: Fabio Coentrao looks like he has played his last game for Real Madrid. Los Blancos are unlikely to recoup the €30m they paid Benfica for the left-back in 2011 and a return has not been ruled out although moves to England or France are more likely.

16.45 BST: Schalke's highly-rated young winger Julian Draxler has told Sport1 he would have been a perfect fit for arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund. The Champions League runners-up made an enquiry about the 19-year-old but were rebuffed as Schalke branded it an 'indecent proposal'. He also said he would not be going anywhere this summer but could consider his options come next year.

16.37 BST: Portuguese striker Nelson Oliveira is set to sign for Cardiff City according to reports in Record. The highly-rated 21-year-old has only managed four league starts in the past two seasons and will be looking to establish himself on loan for the season in Wales.

16.14 BST: Gremio defender Bressan is keen on a move to Juventus says his agent. Marcelo Lipatin told Tuttomercatoweb, "We were in Italy a month ago to obtain his Italian citizenship and the passport arrived yesterday. This is great advantage for his career as it can now bring in interest from the big European sides."

16.05 BST: Paulinho has signed for Livorno. Tottenham fans, do not sweat, it's not your new £17m signing, it's Livorno's striker who has re-signed with the club and extended his contract to 2018.

15.52 BST: After Christian Benteke turned down a move to Spurs and signed a new contract at Aston Villa, the Lilywhites have turned their attentions back to Valencia's Roberto Soldado according to the Daily Star. They say Spurs have put in a £20m bid, £3m more than they had previously been willing to offer.

15.38 BST: Incredible antics from Atalanta's new signing Giulio Migliaccio. He drove a tank into cars decorated in rival club's, Roma and Brescia's, colours and is now under investigation from the Italian FA. It happened during a pre-season street festival. 15.32 BST: DONE DEAL Espanyol have allowed Juan Forlin to join Qatari side Al Rayyan for an undisclosed fee. The Argentine signed four years ago but felt it was time to move on albeit with a heavy heart.

15.04 BST: Brighton and Hove Albion are keen to sign Swansea City midfielder Kemy Agustien. The Dutchman is well down the pecking order at the Liberty Stadium and he has been told by Michael Laudrup he can look for a new club. Sky Sports say the 26-year-old has held talks with Brighton boss Oscar Garcia and is keen on a move.

15.00 BST: Former Manchester City target Amer Abdulrahman from the United Arab Emirates is close to joining Blackburn Rovers on loan for the season. Baniyas deputy chairman Mubarak Awad told 360Sport, "Blackburn were in touch. He is not for sale but we will send him out on loan. He will go next week and train with them and after that stay for the season."

14.51 BST: Must be easier for a star centre forward to comment on transfers than a manager because Robin Van Persie was asked by Channel Seven right after tonight's match to comment on a potential Cesc Fabregas deal to United. He obliged, "Of course, he's a great player."

14.40 BST: It is actually impossible to keep Napoli from the rumour mill. The latest is they're after none other than Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Unless owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has found an oil-field somewhere around Naples, this one probably won't happen.

14.36 BST: Morgan De Sanctis is highly likely to leave Napoli this summer according to his agent. With the signing of Rafael and the imminent arrival of Pepe Reina from Liverpool, De Sanctis' agent told CalcioNews24, "I can only say that he will almost certainly leave Napoli."

14.24 BST: Zenit St Petersurg boss Luciano Spalletti is keen on signing Juventus defender Marco Motta according to several Russian media outlets. The fee would be around €3m, the same amount Juve bought him for two years ago.

14.17 BST: Napoli's busy transfer window is set to continue as agent of 19-year-old Partonopei striker Roberto Insigne confirmed he is set to go out on loan. Perugia is the destination and agent Fabio Andreotti said, "The official details of Roberto Insigne’s move to Perugia will come on Monday."

14.07 BST: Long-term Tottenham target Leandro Damaio looks set to join Napoli once contract negotiations are sorted. His agent told Tutto Napoli, "Internacional have found an agreement with Napoli but we still need to sort out the contract."

14.03 BST: Bayern Munich midfielder Luis Gustavo will be staying at the German club to the disappointment of Arsenal and Chelsea. the Brazilian's agent Roger Wittmann told Sport1, "Guardiola would not send Luiz away." The comments come after rumours spread that Guardiola did not like Luis Gustavo.

13.54 BST: The news from France regarding Newcastle United just keeps coming. This time, Le Parisien are reporting that PSG want to sign Yohan Cabaye. They also claim, if that transfer goes through, that will be the end of their transfer dealings. But then Monaco said that as well...

13.49 BST: Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has confirmed he is interested in signing Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis. He told The Chronicle, "Bafetimbi is a player we think could do very well for us. He is on our sights."

13.43 BST: PSG coach Laurent Blanc has ruled out a move for unsettled Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. The French club have already spent close to €90m on Marquinhos and Edinson Cavani but Blanc told reporters they have no interest in spending big again to bring Rooney in.

13.36 BST: And it is official. Well the figures are. It's been in the offing for a few weeks now but Roma have announced the signing of Kevin Strootman from PSV. The fee is believed to be around €16.5m.

13.20 BST: Ajax with some good news at last. Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld may be looking to leave the club but star striker Siem De Jong has professed his loyalty for at last another season. He told the club's website he had been thinking about taking 'the next step' abroad but now wants to stay for one more year.

13.12 BST: Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has declared he is definitely looking to leave Spurs this summer and would welcome a move to his former club PSV. He told NUsport, "If PSV want me then it’s easy to say yes. My situation at Tottenham is not good. I am, therefore, looking for a new club."

13.05 BST: Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri seems to think Jose Reina will be re-united with ex-boss Rafa Benitez sooner rather than later.

12.59 BST: Monaco said their summer transfer business was finished about two weeks ago. Since then they've been pretty active and the latest link is to Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio. A Bola seem to think a Monaco bid is imminent and the big-spenders from the Stade Louis II will get what they want.

12.48 BST: Alan Pardew has confirmed Newcastle United will not be signing Porto defender Rolando. The Portuguese press are sure that Newcastle are touring the country in order to sign him but the Magpies boss says they're only there for pre-season training.

12.39 BST: Porto are now willing to sell winger Christian Atsu which has put Liverpool and Spurs on red alert. Sky Sports report that Atsu sai he would be happy to run down his contract and so Porto now want to cash in on the player.

12.32 BST: Russian forward Pavel Pogrebnyak is looking for a way back in to the Premier League according to the Russian press. With Hull City still looking for another striker even after the loan-signing of Danny Graham from Sunderland, the KC Stadium could be a possible destination for Reading's Pogrebnyak.

12.25 BST: Ipswich Town are closing in on signing Cristophe Berra from Wolves. Tractor Boys boss Mick McCarthy is looking to re-unite with the defender who he signed for Wolves when he was manager at Molyneux.

11.28 BST: Liverpool could lose Daniel Agger if Barcelona turn their attentions towards the Danish defender. Barca are looking for replacements for the ageing Carles Puyol and after being rebuffed by PSG for Thiago Silva, the Catalan club may be looking towards 28-year-old Agger.

11.23 BST: Barcelona's young starlet Cristian Tello has told reporters he is not planning on going anywhere. The Spanish winger says he is in contract talks with the Catalan club and expects to stay and fight for his place in the team.

11.15 BST: France defender Adil Rami is considering not playing for Valencia this weekend in a bid to not aggravate an injury, just in case a move away from Los Ches goes through. Rami has backache at the moment and is hoping to heal in time for a move, Roma being one of the interested parties according to AS.

11.08 BST: Fiorentina have gone transfer mad. According to La Repubblica the Viola are after four top midfielders. Daniele De Rossi, Josip Ilicic, Marco Verratti and Radja Nainggolan are all said to be on their wishlist in a desperate attempt to strengthen the squad for their Champions League campaign this season.

11.00 BST: DONE DEAL Santos have signed a Brazilian forward from Serie A but it is not Robinho. After that deal broke down, the Brazilian giants turned their attention to Cagliari's Thiago Ribeiro and confirmed his transfer this morning. The fee is believed to be around the €3.5m mark.

10.53 BST: Manchester United fans can stop dreaming and Real Madrid fans can start breathing again. ABC Madrid are reporting that Cristiano Ronaldo has sold his house in Manchester, all but confirming he will not be signing for the Red Devils. Either that or he just wants a better house.

10.50 BST: Michel Vorm has told Voetball International he has no intention of leaving Swansea City despite interest from Arsenal. Arsene Wenger is said to be looking for a replacement for the erratic Wojciech Szczesny but Vorm said, "Once you’re in at Swansea, you do not want to leave."

10.45 BST: Norwich City's busy summer is showing no signs of slowing as they have turned their attentions to former Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez. The Argentine is available from Catania following loans at Milan and Sampdoria and the Canaries are said to have bid €4m for the 29-year-old.

10.39 BST: Former Manchester City midfielder David Pizarro has declared his future is with Fiorentina. The Viola midfielder handed in a transfer request on the last day of the season following some questionable refereeing decisions but told fans at a pre-season conference, "Will I stay here? Yes, we’ll challenge for trophies."

10.32 BST: AC Milan have sent a delegation to Moscow to discuss a deal for Japanese striker Kaisuke Honda. Sky Sport Italia say the Rossoneri landed in Russia to thrash out a deal yesterday, among them two FIFA agents and Honda's brother.

10.25 BST: Marquinhos' signing for PSG has prompted Barcelona to re-evaluate their options in the centre of defence. They had wanted the 19-year-old Brazilian but have now turned their attention to compatriot David Luiz according to Sport.

10.04 BST: Bordeaux's Serbian defender Vujadin Savic took to Twitter to argue with Get Football News France about his future. The media outlet tweeted that Savic had declared in a Serbian newspaper he wanted to leave France and return to Belgrade but the defender responded directly. He said, " I told u allready….for now…i am staying in bordaux…but never know whats going to happend in future…"

10.00 BST: Greek champions Olympiakos are sniffing around Sylvain Marveaux according to L'Equipe. The Newcastle winger has struggled for game-time at St James' Park but towards the back end of last season showed some form. The Greeks are looking for a loan deal.

09.53 BST: Marca and Sport have both said Ezequiel Garay's move from Benfica to Manchester United is all but confirmed. The Spanish press have taken an interest because Real Madri will be owed %50 of any transfer fee which is being reported at around €20m.

09.48 BST: The Brazilian press think wonderkid Bernard will join Arsenal. O Tempo reported a week ago that a £21m deal would be agreed but the Daily Mail's article reporting the same thing yesterday has caused a frenzy in Brazil. It seems no-one is actually sure what is going on with the Atletico Mineiro starlet's future.

09.40 BST: Two new signings at Monaco have been announced as captain and vice-captain. Claudio Ranieri says former Barcelona left-back Eric Abidal will skipper the side while former Malaga midfielder Jeremy Toulalan will be vice-captain.

09.34 BST: DONE DEAL Brazil defender Andre Santos has joined Flamengo from Arsenal. The left-back has been struggling for form and fitness and fell out of favour last season in just his second season with the Gunners. Read the full story here.

09.25 BST: Gareth Bale may be going nowhere but top striking target Christian Benteke has performed a huge U-turn on his transfer request and has instead signed a new contract at Aston Villa. The Belgian had been odds on to sign for Spurs but it appears that deal may well be off.

09.17 BST: Andre Villas Boas remains defiant Gareth Bale will not be sold this summer. He told reporters after a 0-0 draw with Colchester yesterday, "Gareth Bale is not for sale at any price."

09.12 BST: In the North-East still and Sunderland are looking to pull the plug on a deal for Greek youngster Charas Mavrias according to the Shields Gazette. The signing of Emanuele Giaccherini is said to be a factor in the club's decision to cool interest in the winger.

09.00 BST: Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Oscar Cardozo as fears over Papiss Cisse's future at the club remain in the balance. Record say the Magpies are looking to hijack the strikers move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.

07.00 BST: Brazilian side Vasco da Gama have signed Wolfsburg's right-back Fagna on loan. The length of the loan deal has not yet been disclosed, but reports in Brazil suggest the defender could remain in his homeland until December.

06.00 BST: Arsenal are set to pounce on pint-sized Atletico Mineiro playmaker Bernardo, according to the Daily Mail. It is said a £21 million deal is in the offing, in what would be a blow to both Spurs and Liverpool, who have been monitoring the 20-year-old for some time.

03.15 BST: BBC reports Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is close to sealing a season-long loan deal with Serie A outfit Napoli. Manager Rafa Benitez has evidently swooped quickly after failing in his bid to sign QPR shot-stopper Julio Cesar. Earlier this summer, the Reds signed Simon Mignolet from Sunderland, who will battle it out with Brad Jones for the No. 1 spot.

The Daily Mirror states Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is set for crunch talks with manager Brendan Rodgers, and is set to reveal his desire to move to Arsenal. Suarez will join his Reds team-mates in Melbourne on Sunday and has reportedly made up his mind about his future.

Similarly, the Daily Mail claims Suarez is keen on joining Arsene Wenger at the Emirates, but Liverpool placing a £50 million price tag on the Uruguayan could scupper the deal. On Thursday evening, Wenger was given the all clear to place a £50 million bid for Suarez, creating some uncertainty over the potential transfer.

However, The Sun reports Real Madrid may have beaten the Gunners to the punch. It is said the La Liga giants have tabled an offer of £20 million cash plus wantaway striker Gonzalo Higuain in exchange for Suarez. Wenger has been chasing both Higuian and Suarez, and would miss out on both if the deal is sanctioned by the Reds over the weekend. Indeed, an agreement was believed to have been reached with Higuain some three weeks ago, creating frustration among the club's supporters.

Should Wenger miss out on their strike targets, though, Chelsea's Juan Mata could become their next big signing. The Daily Mail reports the Spaniard is close to an exit from Stamford Bridge, and Arsenal have emerged as favourites to snare the playmaker. Mourinho is adamant the Spanish schemer won't be leaving but Mata's departure could also pave the way for United's Wayne Rooney to move to London with the Blues.
