Nothing has been confirmed by either club yet but it seems like this could be a done deal soon.

New City boss Manuel Pellegrini has now fully turned his attention to capturing Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo, the Daily Mail reports. The 27-year-old is also linked with Atletico Madrid, but Pellegrini's desire to bring him to the Premier League may prove the decisive factor. Negredo could form part of a new-look City attack, with the Spaniard tipped to replace Edin Dzeko.

Tottenham will attempt to tie Gareth Bale down to a new deal when the Wales international returns for pre-season training this week, according to the Daily Mirror. Manager Andre Villas-Boas and technical director Franco Baldini will sit down with Bale in order to upgrade his contract, preventing the winger from leaving for Real Madrid this summer.

Spurs are also stepping up their efforts to sign Aston Villa front-man Christian Benteke. The Sun states Villas-Boas will launch a £20 million bid nearer to the end of the current transfer window, though Villa have previously said they are seeking £30 million. Benteke is viewed by Tottenham as the ideal replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor, who Villas-Boas hopes to offload in the coming weeks.

Roma's Daniele De Rossi is edging closer to a Chelsea move, the Daily Mirror reports. Blues boss Jose Mourinho has tried to sign the midfielder twice in the past, and is eager to lure De Rossi to Stamford Bridge this summer. The Italy international turned down the advances of Manchester City last year, but would consider playing for Chelsea if they can match his £5.5 million-a-year wage demands.
