Reports from Spain saying Barcelona and Manchester United are set for crunch talks next week to discuss the transfer fee for midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The player has decided to leave the Catalan club and is said to have already agreed a five-year deal with the Red Devils but an agreeable fee is yet to have been found by the two clubs.

23.50 BST: Manuel Almunia has signed a new one year deal with Watford. Boss Gianfranco Zola is delighted and said it was ‘fantastic’ to have such a good ‘keeper at the club for another season.

23.20 BST: Former Wigan goalkeeper Richard Kingson has signed for Cypriot club Doxa Katokopia following two years of footballing anonymity. The keeper had taken time out from the game to deal with personal issues off the pitch, namely accusations that his wife was a witch.

Quotes emerging from the Ukraine that Shakhtar Donetsk general director Sergei Palkin is not happy with the deal put on the table by Borussia Dortmund. A five-year deal is said to be already agreed between the player and the Red Devils but if a fee can't be agreed, Thiago will look for another club as he has decided to move on. 07.07 BST: According to the Daily Mirror, West Ham have agreed to sign striker Duvan Zapata from Argentinian club Estudiantes for a fee of £6.7 million. It is hoped the Colombian will partner Andy Carroll up front next term.

05.40 BST: Stevan Jovetic has rejected the advances of Napoli as he continues to wait for a formal approach from Juventus, Sky Sport Italia reports. Fiorentina have previously stated they will not sell the forward to Juve for less than 30 million euros.

04.30 BST: The Daily Mail reports Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh may find a home at Levante, with the Spanish side evidently keen on bringing in the Morocco international next season.

Widespread reports in the British press on Saturday morning claim Liverpool are set to be trumped in their attempt to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Henrikh Mkhitaryan by Borussia Dortmund, while Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is wanted in various parts of Europe.

The Guardian, Telegraph and Daily Mirror report Borussia Dortmund are on the cusp of securing the Armenian's signature after chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke and sporting director Michael Zorc travelled to the Ukraine for negotiations on Friday afternoon. The potential transfer is said to be worth 25 million euros.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers had earmarked the 24-year-old as one of his top transfer targets of the summer, but complications over his ownership rights are understood to have obstructed the club from luring Mkhitaryan to the Premier League.

The future of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, meanwhile, remains up in the air. The Sun and Daily Mirror report Serie A outfit Napoli have emerged as favourites to sign the Bosnian, with newly-appointed manager Rafa Benitez understood to be a keen admirer of his talents. City have already sold Carlos Tevez to Juventus this summer, and could part with Dzeko for £20 million.

However, the Daily Mail claims Atletico Madrid are in hot pursuit of Dzeko, as City close in on Atleti's other top target, Alvaro Negredo.

Arsenal's Bacary Sagna is also in high demand, with Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Paris Saint-Germain lying in wait as his Arsenal contract talks stall, according to the Daily Mail. The 30-year-old has just one year remaining on his current deal, and is evidently coveted by clubs across Europe.

Also at Arsenal, The Sun reports Johan Djourou and Francis Coquelin have agreed to season-long loan deals in Germany. Djourou is bound for Hamburg, while Coquelin is set for a move to Freiburg.
