Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their bid to lure Gareth Bale away from Tottenham, with the Daily Mirror reporting the Ligue 1 heavyweights are willing to spend £85 million on the Welshman.

It is claimed the big-money offer is part of an attempt to procure the services of Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas, who they have been linked to heavily in recent weeks. Villas-Boas is understood to be the favourite to take over at PSG, after Michael Laudrup and Guus Hiddink turned down the opportunity to work in the French capital.

Meanwhile, Spurs are in the market for players of their own. The Daily Mirror states Botafogo defender Doria and Brazil midfielder Paulinho - who netted a brace for the national team in their Confed Cup victory over Japan. Doria is highly-rated in his homeland, having made his debut for Brazil at 18, and has Spurs, Porto and Benfica chasing his signature.

Lille and France winger Dimitri Payet is the latest player to spring up on Arsene Wenger's transfer radar. The Arsenal boss has been handed a licence to spend this summer, and Payet fits the bill, according to a report in the Daily Mail. It is also claimed the Gunners have officially made a £25 million bid for Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid, as they attempt to stave off a similar offer from Juventus.

Carlos Tevez is again in the transfer headlines, with the potential sale of Robinho a key factor in his move to AC Milan. The Daily Mirror reports that Milan and Juventus are hot on the Argentine's heels, but the Rossoneri will move into pole position for his services if they are able to finalise the sale of Robinho to his former club Santos in the coming weeks.
