David Moyes' first challenge as Manchester United manager will be to sort out Wayne Rooney's future. The Sun newspaper reports on Saturday that the England striker will be sacrificed in order to fund a £30 million bid for Real Madrid's Karim Benzema.

It is said United are seeking £25 million for Rooney - amid reported interest from Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea - with he and Moyes sharing an occasionally frosty relationship. Moyes, though, will have the final say on the potential recruitment of Benzema, who was targeted by United in 2009 before making the move to the Bernabeu.

Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich has put his foot down over his new manager, telling Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid that he will not pay the £17 million get-out clause in the tactician's contract. The Sun claims Mourinho must now confront Madrid chief Florentino Perez to negotiate a deal which would see him slip out of the final three years of his deal.

Whoever takes over at Stamford Bridge may risk losing veteran defender John Terry, who is being hunted by Turkish giants Galatasaray, the Guardian reports. The Champions League quarter-finalists and back-to-back domestic title winners are believed to be willing to match Terry's current wage and offer his regular first-team football, something he has lacked this campaign.

Terry is entering the final year of his contract, leaving the Blues - and their new boss - to decide on his future this summer, or risk allowing him to leave for free.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have stepped up their pursuit of number one transfer target Stevan Jovetic. The Daily Mirror states a deal has been agreed upon, and will be sealed if Arsenal can clinch a top-four finish in the Premier League in the next fortnight.

Jovetic is valued at £20 million, and the Fiorentina striker is prepared to snub a switch to Serie A rivals Juventus if the Gunners can offer him Champions League football.

Finally, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is hoping to have his prayers answered by Toulouse defender Aymen Abdennour. Despite being linked with Barcelona, Abdennour prefers a move to the Premier League, with the Reds now favourites to secure his services, according to the Daily Mirror.
