Juve plot back-up plan with Hernandez heist
GettyImagesJavier Hernandez: On his way to the Serie A? Juventus are lining up a move for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez if their bid to lure Luis Suarez to Serie A falls through.
Suarez has long been linked with Juve, with reports this week again hinting the Uruguay international may seek an exit from Anfield in the summer. Regardless of his intention, it appears the Turin-based club have made Suarez their top transfer target.
However, no good plan comes without a back-up, and in Juve's case theirs comes in the form of United poacher Hernandez, who they view as an excellent fit for their squad. The Daily Mail reports the Italian giants are looking at Hernandez as their second-choice to bring in to play with Fernando Llorente, set to join from Athletic Bilbao in June.
Hernandez has once again been used in something of a 'super-sub' role by Sir Alex Ferguson again this season, and is said to be keen to find pastures new in order to gain more game time. The speculation over a potential switch to Juventus comes as Atletico Madrid are also linked with the 24-year-old Mexico international.
Meanwhile, the Times claims Chelsea are scouting around for a new goalkeeper to provide cover for Petr Cech. Celtic and England gloveman Fraser Forster is now top of their wish-list.
Thibaut Courtois was viewed as Cech's long-term successor, but his performances with high-flying Atletico Madrid in La Liga have dramatically increased his chances of staying in Spain on a permanent basis. Should the Belgian not return to Stamford Bridge in the summer, Chelsea are willing to pounce on Forster to shore up their goalkeeping stocks ahead of next season.
