Barry keen for Etihad farewell
PA PhotosGareth Barry is hoping to finish his career with Man CityManchester City midfielder Gareth Barry is gunning for a contract extension to see his career out at the Etihad, the Sun writes. Barry is among a number of City players approaching the end of their contracts and he faces a nervous wait to finalise a deal for the future. "The new men will take time to look at things," he said. "The players are comfortable with that. I want to finish my career challenging for trophies and this is the perfect club to do that." But it is believed Barry, Carlos Tevez and Joleon Lescott are not certainties to remain at City with a shake-up on the cards in the summer.
Blackburn midfielder and former captain Danny Murphy could bring his time at Ewood Park to a premature end, with reports in the Mirror suggesting a return to Fulham is on the cards. Murphy left Craven Cottage in last season to join Rovers on a big-money deal but is unhappy at his playing opportunities of late. Fulham are ready to capitalise on his misery by offering the 35-year-old a job behind the scenes. Murphy would be involved in the coaching setup at Fulham while helping to promote the club.
Monday's edition of the Guardian suggests Everton's FA Cup exit at the hands of Wigan on Saturday did no favours for boss David Moyes, whose contract expires at the season's end. But the growing support of the Everton board over the years has prompted speculation that Moyes will soon be offered a new contract as the Toffees bid to secure European football next season. "I still have the same appetite for that job," Moyes said.
