Interesting reports in the Daily Mirror on Monday morning with Harry Redknapp claiming that QPR turned down the chance to make a quick profit on defender Chris Samba.

Samba joined QPR at the end of the January transfer window from Anzhi Makhachkala for around £12.5 million, with Zenit St Petersburg last week ready to offer more than that to take him back to Russia.

"We had an offer for Samba, right on the deadline and the chairman turned it down. It was for more money than we paid," Redknapp said.

However, the Russian league recently moved to a cross-year football calendar which matches the rest of Europe. This means there would be no special dispensation on FIFA's strict rule that a player can only play for two clubs in one season, so Zenit would not be granted permission to play Samba until next season.

Hardly seen Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey could be on his way to Stoke City during the summer transfer window according to the Daily Mail.

Shelvey, 21, has fallen out of favour with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers recently and could be moved on as surplus to requirements.

And an interested spectator is Stoke's Tony Pulis, with the 55-year-old Potters boss sending a two-man delegation to watch the England international in a reserve match.

And with Stoke's Charlie Adam expected to depart the club in the summer, Pulis is keen to add the £7 million rated Shelvey to his playing stocks.

It seems the much-admired Santos striker is not the only young Brazilian starting to create a rumour stir, with Manchester United reportedly keeping tabs on Corinthians defender Antonio Carlos.

The Mirror is suggesting the Red Devils have taken an interest in the 19-year-old, who has risen through the youth ranks of the Brazilian club to make a handful of appearances for the senior side.

But despite Old Trafford's interest, and a rumoured initial round of talks between the clubs, United are not expected to make a formal bid in the near future, preferring to wait and see how Brazil's under-20 national team captain progresses in coming years.

Meanwhile, The Mirror is reporting that Fulham's Turkish midfielder Kerim Frei could be sent out on loan to Championship side Bolton.

Bolton have been lacking a creative midfielder since the injury break-down of Mark Davies and boss Dougie Freedman is keen to land Frei in an attempt to kick-start a late promotion push.

And with the 19-year-old only just returning from his own injury lay-off, Fulham may welcome the chance to prepare him for next season in the lower divisions.
