Family ties as Ince firms for Blackpool role
GettyImagesPaul Ince is tipped to continue his managerial career with BlackpoolHe may have spent the past month trying to push through a deal for son Thomas to join Liverpool, but Paul Ince could soon be pleading with the 21-year-old to remain at Blackpool after being heavily backed to manage the Seasiders. According to widespread reports in the English media, Ince Sr. could be announced as the replacement for caretaker manager Steve Thompson as early as Friday and may take charge for Blackpool's trip to Ipswich on Saturday. The former Notts County boss will attempt to steer Blackpool into the Premier League next season and may have a strong influence in keeping Tom at Bloomfield Road, much to the delight of fans.
West Ham are ready to raid Southampton with a summer move for the Saints' leading goalscorer Rickie Lambert, according to the Daily Mirror. The Hammers made a play for Lambert in the January transfer window but were swiftly turned down by Southampton, who have relied on the striker's 11 Premier League goals this season to keep them above the relegation zone. Although Lambert is happy to remain at St Mary's, his contract expires at the end of the season and he could move to Upton Park if the Saints do not offer him an extension to his current deal.
Manchester City and transfer rumours go together like Joey Barton and controversy, and there is no sign of the club's summer spending spree hype slowing down. After being linked to Edinson Cavani and Victor Wanyama, Roberto Mancini's scouts are now targeting Roma duo Erik Lamela and Marquinhos. The 20-year-old Lamela would be a prime target for City after gaining an international cap and he could replace the disappointing Scott Sinclair.
