David Silva APDavid Silva: Set to return to Spain next season?

Real Madrid are set to splurge over £100 million in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror. It is said Manchester City playmaker David Silva has emerged as the club's top target once the transfer window re-opens, while Edinson Cavani of Napoli and Tottenham flyer Gareth Bale are also on the hit-list. A recent poll of Real Madrid supporters indicated Silva was their preferred recruitment target, and club president Florentino Perez is willing to give the punters what they want. The presidential elections to be held in June may also have something to do with that.

Meanwhile, a change on the managerial front could also take place at Eastlands, with Everton boss David Moyes to take over from Roberto Mancini, should the Italian get the sack. The Daily Mirror reports Moyes has shot to the top of the club's wanted list, heading a group of talented tacticians which includes Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp and Manuel Pellegrini of Malaga. Moyes has often been touted as Sir Alex Ferguson's long-term replacement at Manchester United, but with his compatriot evidently continuing his success in the Premier League, the Toffees manager could be set for a big-money move to Ferguson's cross-city rivals.

The Sunday People claims Manchester City could be on the verge of landing Aston Villa marksman Christian Benteke. A £20 million offer is reportedly in the offing after the striker told his current employers that he has no desire to stay on next season. With the January departure of Mario Balotelli, and Edin Dzeko signalling his intention to return to the Bundesliga, Benteke is viewed as the ideal front-man for the defending champions - particularly as he would cost a fraction of the cost of other targets Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao.
