Liverpool's negotiations in the transfer window resemble the Swiss Alps - Daniel Sturridge aside. The Reds were nearing a deal for Tom Ince, it was rejected. They considered a Sneijder move, he went to Galatasaray. And now their bid for Inter Milan's Philippe Coutinho has been emphatically turned away. The up and down nature of Liverpool's contract talks mean it is unlikely they will secure another player in January, after Inter refused to release midfielder Coutinho for the £8 million on offer from the Premier League side. The Serie A giants have reportedly put a £12m price tag on the Brazilian, according to the Mirror, and Liverpool will likely wait until the summer to provide a new offer.
Florent Malouda could soon earn a much-needed reprieve from his underwhelming time at Chelsea, with QPR reportedly interested in recruiting the midfielder, the Daily Mail says. The 32-year-old has failed to appear for Chelsea this season after being omitted from the Blues' 25-man Premier League squad in September. Malouda would have to take a pay cut to move to Rangers but the chance of first-team football could be worth the sacrifice for a player currently training with Chelsea's academy.
First, QPR swooped in and grabbed Loic Remy right out of Newcastle's hands. Now, the Toon could have another transfer target ripped from their grasp by another London club. This time, Arsenal are eyeing a move for Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, the Mirror reports. Although the Magpies have already agreed a £6.7m fee with the French club and Yanga-Mbiwa is on his way to St James' Park for personal talks, the Gunners are hoping to add the 23-year-old to their line-up. It is believed Arsenal have been keen on the Frenchman for a year.
