23:10 GMT: Romelu Lukaku remains hopeful of transforming his loan spell at West Brom into a permanent move from Chelsea, saying: "Hopefully after the January window we will be able to start talking about that. At this time I'm just looking at my own career and West Brom, I don't really care about what Chelsea are doing at the moment."

22:45 GMT: The Metro reports that former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song could make a shock return to the Premier League with Chelsea after Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova decided the Cameroonian was not up to scratch.

22:11 GMT: Chelsea and Manchester City target Radamel Falcao is being linked with an unlikely move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain after praising the club. Falcao told Telefoot: “Paris Saint-Germain has a very ambitious project. France is a wonderful country. I went and I loved it."

21:31 GMT: Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed that Nuri Sahin had to take a pay cut to return to the club where he started his career. "I think we're all aware that the salary structure here is different from Real Madrid's," Zorc told the Bundesliga website. "However, Nuri accepted what we offered as for him it was all about wearing Borussia Dortmund's shirt again. There wouldn't have been a chance to sign him otherwise."

21:10 GMT: Martin O'Neill has reiterated his desire to sign more players to strengthen Sunderland in January. He said: "We are trying our best, obviously, to try to bolster the squad, which will be very, very important if we can do."

20:01 GMT: Liverpool winger Stewart Downing has played down reports linking him with a move to Sunderland or a return to Middlesbrough, telling the Sunday Times he is happy to fight for his place under Brendan Rodgers.
"My response had to be to play well," he said."As my dad said, 'Prove to him, give him food for thought'. I don't know if it was a gee-up or what, he [Rodgers] certainly tests players - it was good, I appreciated the straightness, most players do.

The Sevilla striker, who has scored six goals in 12 appearances for Spain is quoted as saying: "The Premier League is a great competition, I really like it and I think my style of football would be well suited to it."

18:50 GMT: Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has told the club's fans to expect one more new signing in the January transfer window.

"We are in the January window and we are still looking for one player,” he said. "I don't think we are going to look for a centre-half because we still have Antolin Alcaraz to come back from injury and Roman Golobart has done really well in the cup.
"I think we will have to cope with it internally, but we'll still try to add one more face before the window closes."

18.00 GMT: Both Mercato365 and the Journal are claiming the agent of Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko met with Newcastle representatives on Friday. The 23-year-old has ben a long term target for the Magpies and is out of contract in the summer.

17.31 GMT: Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony on Twitter talking about George Boyd: "In answer to all the queries on Boydy, We have rejected a formal written offer from Nottingham Forest which I felt was derisory. The other clubs who have made enquiries for Boyd are Reading, Millwall and Crystal Palace. Unless its a proper offer for player of his calibre I would rather he see out the rest of his contract with us."

13.57 GMT: Edin Dzeko has conceded he could be the player sold to make room for a new striker at Manchester City. "Anything is possible," Dzeko told The People. "I wouldn't rule out leaving now or in the summer, but I'm trying not to think about it."

The Borussia Dortmund winger has said: "I have no trouble with Borussia Dortmund and, basically, I don’t want to leave," he told Sport Bild. Until now I have not been offered a new deal that I could sign straight away, but I am looking forward to receiving that kind of proposal."

Some sources are now reporting that an £8.7 million deal has been agreed by Newcastle and Marseille for the forward. Joey Barton believes the deal is done, he tweeted: "Good luck to Loic in Newcastle. Don't worry i've told him what to expect. Great guy. Perfect club for him."

10.57 GMT: With Demba Ba's arrival at Chelsea and the fine form of Romelu Lukaku on-loan at West Brom, Fernando Torres' future at Stamford Bridge continues to be a subject for debate. The Metro claim that Torres, 28, could return to Atletico Madrid for a cut-price fee in the summer - and there is even a chance he could go on loan there for the remainder of this season.

Sneijder, who is out of favour at the San Siro, has had talks with the Turkish outfit stalled in recent days while personal terms are discussed. It is believed that during this time, Brendan Rodgers has made contact over the 28-year-old. Working in Liverpool's favour is Sneijder's preference to play in the Premier League should he leave Serie A.

A different type of transfer news, this time on the coaching front, dominates headlines in The Sun newspaper on Sunday. It is suggested former Barcelona mentor Pep Guardiola is edging closer to a return to the management fold, and Manchester City are reported to be his first-choice destination. A deal is tipped to be discussed this summer, with City now favourites ahead of Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan to snare the talented tactician.

Fresh from a clean sheet in QPR's stalemate with Tottenham on Saturday, manager Harry Redknapp is on a plan bound to discuss a transfer with Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila, according to the Daily Mail. Redknapp is believed to be an admirer of the 22-year-old, but the only stumbling block appears to be the agreement of a transfer fee. Rennes are holding out for £10 million, while QPR to date have thus far offered £7.4 million.
