07:00 GMT: Here's this morning's paper round-up
Inter Milan have joined the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, according to the Sun. With Wesley Sneijder likely to depart the San Siro, Lampard would be the ideal replacement for the Serie A club, offering the 34-year-old a chance to continue playing in Europe. The sale of Lampard would also free up some cash for the Blues, who are ready to snap up Demba Ba on Thursday. Alan Pardew confirmed Ba is close to completing a move to Stamford Bridge, insisting Newcastle can get their season on track despite the Senegal international's departure.
Tottenham have joined the race to sign Barcelona striker David Villa, the Daily Mail reports. Liverpool's request to acquire Villa on a loan deal was rejected earlier this week and it now seems Spurs and Arsenal are in a two-horse race for the Spaniard. Barca are only willing to sell Villa for an estimated fee of around £16 million. Chelsea are no longer in the hunt for the 31-year-old after signing Ba and the Catalan giants will only accept major offers for Villa to depart Camp Nou in January.
Mathieu Debuchy is set to complete his move to Newcastle today, according to the Daily Mirror. The Toon have reportedly struck a deal with Lille worth £5 million - much less than the Magpies were willing to spend on the Frenchman. Debuchy is expected to undergo a medical this morning and could be fit for Newcastle's FA Cup trip to Brighton on Saturday. "A player of his quality and stature will boost everybody - our senior players, our staff, everybody," Pardew said. "Defensively, we are so short. We need some defenders and that is what I have given as my message to the board."
