Chelsea are on the cusp of recruiting another January transfer window signing, with multiple sources claiming the Blues have agreed to a 12.5 million pound deal for Saint-Etienne defender Kurt Zouma. The 19-year-old France youth international, currently serving a 10-game ban for a tackle that broke an opponent’s leg, was high on the list for a number of top European clubs, but according to The Guardian, Chelsea have won the race to the highly-rated defender and will join the likes of Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah as January buys. However, Chelsea fans will have to wait a while longer to see the new acquisition in action, with Zouma expected to be loaned back to Saint-Etienne for the remainder of the season.

Manchester United are unlikely to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos, with The Sun reporting that Old Trafford officials are unlikely to secure any more transfers after signing Juan Mata from Chelsea. United boss David Moyes is rumoured to be a big fan of the 24-year-old, making a personal check on the German international last weekend. And hopes of the Red Devils reeling in Kroos were lifted with Bayern boss Pep Guardiola recently admitting he wouldn’t rule out the sale of the 25 million pound-rated player. But after United paid 37.1 million pounds for Mata last week, the transfer treasure chest has slammed close at Old Trafford.

Finally, the Daily Mirror is reporting that West Ham United are on the verge of trumping Fulham in the chase for Olympiacos striker Kostas Mitroglou. Fulham are after a new striker with rumours suggesting key man Dimitar Berbatov could be on the way back to Tottenham. However, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce, who himself lost new Everton striker Lacina Traore this month, has jumped in at the eleventh hour, hoping to add the Greek international to his forward line. However, Allardyce is not flush with cash and will have to sell Mo Diame to Queens Park Rangers to fund the transfer.
