Arsene Wenger is reportedly using one of the summer's biggest deals as leverage in his attempt to sign United winger Nani, according to the Daily Mail.
Arsenal have opened talks with the Red Devils and are hopeful of securing the Portugal international next month. United want at least £20 million for Nani, but Wenger hopes the swift negotiation process during Van Persie's departure from the Emirates should be repaid by Sir Alex Ferguson with a cheaper asking price.
Unhappy camper Joleon Lescott is up for grabs in the transfer window at a bargain price. Manchester City recruited the defender from Everton for £24 million in 2010 and the Sun says they are ready to offload Lescott for just £8 million. The Toffees are keen to re-sign the England international, but his £90,000-a-week wages could be too much for them to take on. All it took for QPR boss Harry Redknapp to squeeze an apology out of Jose Bosingwa was a £100,000 fine. The Mirror says Redknapp's feud with Bosingwa, who refused to sit on the bench for QPR's win over Fulham two weeks ago, has prompted him to look at attitude before ability in the January window. Although the Portuguese defender attempted to make amends, Redknapp believes a culture shift is needed.
"Yeah, he apologised to me when I fined him two weeks wages," Redknapp said. "You pick a team and have a meeting and say 'some of you are going to be disappointed today lads but you've done nothing wrong'. So you don't expect someone to knock on your door two minutes later and say 'I'm not sitting on the bench'. I can't have it really."
