Paper round-up: Chelsea's coaching shake up...again
GettyImagesAndriy Shevchenko could revive his Chelsea career from the sidelinesThe Chelsea managerial recycling system is looking cleaner than ever, it seems. Out goes one former player in Roberto Di Matteo and in comes another in Andriy Shevchenko. Maybe. The Daily Mail reports that the Ukrainian has held talks with close pal Roman Abramovich, who was responsible for his big money transfer to Stamford Bridge in 2006. Shevchenko has reportedly been offered a role in Chelsea's coaching set-up and would join the likes of Bolo Zenden, Eddie Newton and Di Matteo as a former player to return to the club.
Jordan Henderson may have received all the plaudits after scoring a rare goal in Liverpool's Europa League win over Udinese on Thursday, but he shouldn't get too comfortable in his midfield role. While the presence of Steven Gerrard, Nuri Sahin, Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva is already intimidating enough, there could be even more competition for a starting spot with the Mirror reporting that Keisuke Honda could become a Red next month. Liverpool have been linked with the Japanese star since as early as June 2011 and they have ramped up their interest with the 26-year-old looking uncomfortable at CSKA Moscow.
Manchester City are already favourites for this weekend's mouthwatering derby and they have received a major boost with news that David Silva will be fit to face United. Silva didn't travel to Germany for City's Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, but the Sun says he has returned to full training at the Etihad and looks to have overcome his hamstring and back complaints.
If you were wondering how much to spend on your friends this Christmas, £800,000 appears to be the going rate. Well, that's if you're a wealthy footballer who sees that as pocket change. Didier Drogba splashed the cash on commemorative rings for his former Chelsea team-mates in honour of their Champions League win in May. The Ivorian hosted a dinner for his friends, presenting them with gold rings topped off with diamonds and sapphires. Drogba said: "I am very proud of what the club achieved that night and wanted to give something to the team so we can all look back and remember that moment." Lifting the cup wasn't enough, eh?
