Rumours of Mario Balotelli heading for the exit door at Manchester City have intensified, with City reportedly making a play for Wilfried Zaha, according to the Sun. Roberto Mancini is keen on the highly sought-after attacker and City are prepared to spend up to £15 million on the 20-year-old: £12 million up front and a further £3 million in add-ons could fend off rival offers from Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool among others. But the Telegraph reports City's owners will not splash the cash in the January transfer window, meaning Mancini will have to hold off until next summer.

The Mirror says Harry Redknapp could replace Mark Hughes as QPR boss as early as next week. Rangers face Manchester United at Old Trafford at the weekend, with suggestions that no result will rescue Hughes from the sack. The Ukraine FA's interest in Redknapp is believed to have spurred QPR into action as they hope to lure 'Arry before he considers taking the national team gig.

Thursday's rumour mill suggested Brad Friedel could be headed back to Blackurn and the move is looking more and more likely with the Mirror reporting that Fulham are chasing current Rovers 'keeper Paul Robinson. Blackburn missed the chance to grab Friedel on loan but they are hopeful of luring him to Ewood Park in January.

There is some positive news for City fans in the Daily Mail with claims that defender Micah Richards could return to the training pitch as early as next week. Richards suffered a knee injury in City's 1-0 win over Swansea last month and is expected to make his full return in the new year.
