Arsenal are reportedly looking at QPR's Adel Taarabt as a potential recruit for the January transfer window. The Daily Mirror newspaper claims Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the Moroccan and will launch a bid in the coming months if he fails to land his top target; Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha. Meanwhile, it is believed that a £7 million bid will be sent to Palace in order to land the England Under-21 winger, however the South London club are hoping a fee of more than £15 million will be agreed upon.

Manchester City have been linked with Roma and Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi since the summer, and reports in the Daily Mail suggest manager Roberto Mancini is stepping up his efforts to lure the 29-year-old to Eastlands. De Rossi is reportedly keen on leaving the Serie A in January after falling out with coach Zdenek Zeman. Mancini is understood to have asked newly-appointed director of football Txiki Begiristain to enter into negotiations with Roma over a transfer fee for De Rossi.

The Daily Mail reports England boss Roy Hodgson is prepared to ignore the pleas of Wenger by picking fit-again midfielder Jack Wilshere for next week's international friendly against Sweden. Wenger has asked Hodgson to give Wilshere some time to settle back into playing at club level before selecting him for national team duties.

Brendan Rodgers wants to sign Reading defender Alex Pearce, according to the Daily Mail. It is stated that Pearce is viewed by the Liverpool boss as the ideal replacement for the injured Jamie Carragher. Pearce is out of contract next summer, and Rodgers will be hoping to use that as leverage to sign the 23-year-old.
