Arsenal appear set to keep defender Bacary Sagna for another two years, with reports the Frenchman is close to putting pen to paper on a new deal.

The Daily Mail reports Sagna is poised to sign an upgraded contract in the near future after helping the Gunners rise to the top of the Premier League standings while progressing beyond the group stage in the Champions League. Arsene Wenger is said to be eager to tie down Sagna and a number of other top performers in order to boost Arsenal's momentum heading into the second half of the season.

The Gunners may also poach another of Barcelona's young sensations, this time targeting 17-year-old Toni Sanabria. Having previously signed the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Fran Merida, Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral from Barca's youth ranks, Wenger is now set to swoop for the Paraguayan forward, with the Daily Mail claiming a five-year deal is in the offing.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are closing in on signing FC Basle's 'Egyptian Messi' Mohamed Salah, according to the Daily Mail. Reports state an offer in the region of 12 million pounds will be tabled in January, and it is expected the sought-after winger will move to Anfield soon after.

Brendan Rodgers flew to Germany to watch 21-year-old Salah in action in the Champions League midweek and was impressed enough to make him one of Liverpool's top transfer targets.
