Arsenal remain interested in signing Alexandre Pato, despite his current club Corinthians rejecting an initial offer of eight million euros.

The Daily Mirror reports the former AC Milan striker is top of Arsene Wenger's wishlist as the Gunners aim to bolster the depth of their attacking stocks. There is a fear in north London that an injury to frontman Olivier Giroud could derail Arsenal's season, as Nicklas Bendtner is the only viable alternative.

Pato has endured a topsy-turvy time in his homeland after returning from the Serie A, and Wenger believes he can revive the 24-year-old's career ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The Frenchman, though, will need to submit a far greater offer in order to secure Pato's services for the second half of the season.

Meanwhile, the Daily Express claims Arsenal have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign striker Alvaro Morata on loan for the remainder of the season. The deal would commence in January and would offer Wenger more options in the front third as the club aims to snare its first silverware in eight years.

Manchester City are also planning for the future with the capture of 14-year-old starlet Brahim Abdelkader Diaz. The Daily Mail claims City have beaten off a host of top European clubs to sign Diaz, who is considered the next Lionel Messi.

Never shy of spending, City are said to have agreed to a deal worth 2.4 million pounds in total, which could turn out to be a great piece of business if his projected value of 40 million pounds is reached on maturity. It could also turn out to be a waste of money, of course.
