Chelsea and Manchester City are prepared to pounce on unsettled Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

The Daily Mirror reports the two Premier League clubs have been monitoring the situation surrounding the Spain international for some time, but Ramos' sending off in the Champions League midweek and subsequent comments from Real manager Carlo Ancelotti have sparked rumours of his imminent departure. Ancelotti was caught on camera criticising Ramos for being shown a red card against Galatasaray.

Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini are now on alert as they wait for the right moment to submit a bid to snare the defender. Mourinho worked with Ramos at Real and, similar to Pellegrini at City, is eager to bolster his defence with a world-class centre-back as soon as possible.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund whizz Marco Reus, according to a report in the Daily Mirror. It is claimed United manager David Moyes sent two scouts to watch Reus against Napoli in midweek, and the duo returned with glowing reports as the 24-year-old netted a penalty and created an assist in BVB's victory.

Next summer, a 35 million euro release clause in Reus' contract can be triggered, allowing the Premier League giants to steal the attacking midfielder away from Germany. Reus' current deal expires in 2017, but it is likely that by the end of this season he will either sign a long-term extension with Dortmund or move abroad as he becomes one of Europe's hottest young playmakers.
