According to the Mirror, Chelsea are ready to listen to offers for Torres, who would face a tough battle for regular football if he were to stay at Stamford Bridge, with Eto'o joining Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku as challengers for a spot in Mourinho's attack. Although Ba has been linked with a return to Newcastle, Jose Mourinho is most willing to see Torres go, but it's unlikely that the striker will attract an offer around the £50 million he joined from Liverpool for.

The Metro reports Liverpool and Arsenal are strong contenders to sign 29-year-old Torres. Earlier in the transfer window, he was linked with a return to Atletico Madrid, but David Villa's move to the Spanish side appears to have brought those rumours to a halt. Torres is likely to seek playing opportunities elsewhere and remain in Vicente Del Bosque's plans for next year's World Cup.

Liverpool are hopeful of giving summer recruit Simon Mignolet some stiff competition to retain his spot, with Aston Villa outcast Shay Given now a target, the Sun reports. Given has been told he is no longer required at Villa Park and looked likely to move to Doncaster Rovers on loan before the Reds emerged as potential suitors. Brad Guzan secured the number one spot for Villa last season, but Brendan Rodgers believes Given would be a good back-up for the Anfield club.

Things are getting desperate for Arsenal with just three days remaining in the transfer window, but Arsene Wenger is hopeful of a last minute splurge on Real Madrid trio Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria. The Daily Mail says Wenger would be prepared to spend Arsenal's £70 million budget on all three players, although there has been little suggestion that the Spanish side are willing to part ways with the attackers. Real may be more likely to sell if they secure Gareth Bale this weekend, but it appears the targets are Wenger's final attempt at recruiting this summer.
