Fergie plots move for unhappy Ronaldo

Following Cristiano Ronaldo's revelation that he is "sad" and "not happy" at Real Madrid, The Sunday Mirror are reporting that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is plotting a move to bring the wax-chested wonder back to Old Trafford.

Apparently, Lord Ferg of Manchester will pay "whatever it takes" to land the Portuguese star, although On The Move assumes he will stop short of matching the world-record £80 million transfer fee Real paid United three years ago.

A United source told The Sunday Mirror: "The manager made it clear when Ronaldo joined Real that if he ever left the Bernabeu he should return to Old Trafford.

"It's a transfer that would prove that United can still compete with anyone for the biggest names in football. But, at the moment, only Ronaldo knows whether he is serious about leaving Madrid or whether he's just having a sulk."

However, The Mail on Sunday report that Real are preparing to issue a joint statement to put an end to the uncertainty over his future after addressing the two issues that have made him unhappy - the failure to extend his current deal and a perceived lack of support for his bid to win the Ballon D'Or.

Meanwhile, following the transfer deadline day debacle that left Liverpool sans striker, the club are to set up a 'technical committee' to prevent it happening again, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

The committee of "football people" will advise manager Brendan Rodgers but will also, interestingly, take on a much wider role as to how Liverpool is run.
