Becchio and Kamara head to Carrow Road
GettyImagesLuciano Becchio: Has swapped Leeds for NorwichLuciano Becchio revealed he consulted the growing Leeds enclave inside the Norwich dressing room before rubber-stamping his move to the Premier League, in exchange for Steve Morison and an additional cash sum paid by the Canaries to Leeds.
If the Argentinian striker can emulate the impact of Robert Snodgrass and to a lesser extent Jonny Howson and Bradley Johnson at Carrow Road, City may have pulled off a masterstroke.
Becchio had plundered 19 goals in 31 appearances for Leeds this season and fits perfectly into Chris Hughton's preferred template of a loan striker. The 29-year-old is now entering his prime; powerfully-built and with technical ability honed in his formative years playing in South America and Spain.
Morison's departure will not be mourned by the majority of Norwich's fans. The Welsh international was superb during the first six months of his Norwich career last season, but the goals and his influence tailed away dramatically. Morison was a peripheral figure behind Grant Holt in the pecking order under Hughton and a troublesome thigh injury in recent weeks further limited his chances.
- Kei Kamara certainly looks the part. Norwich have acquired a powerfully-built striker who has proved a consistent scorer in the MLS with Sporting Kansas. The 28-year-old's stats do not exactly slot him into the 'prolific' category, but the Sierra Leone international appears to possess the work ethic and the muscular intent that will unsettle Premier League defenders.
Kamara is currently in off-season training in the US but will head to England subject to the Canaries obtaining a work permit. Under the terms of the proposed deal, Norwich have until May 6 to exercise a full transfer option or Kamara will return to Kansas.
