Elephants stamped out, Eagles soar into semis

The elephant will never see where the eagle flies.

An African proverb that rings true tonight. The Ivory Coast's Elephants will not be part of the final four of the African Nations Cup. Nigeria's Super Eagles will after their 2-1 victory Sunday at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg earned them a semi-final matchup with Mali.

Unfancied Burkina Faso completed the semi-final line up. Despite being without their star striker Alain Traore, they made it through to their second ever continental last four with a goal in extra time to defeat Togo, 1-0. Burkina Faso will face Ghana on the sandy Nelspruit surface to attempt to make the final for the first time.

Jonathan Pitriopa's header was the difference between Burkina Faso and Togo, as Emmanuel Adebayor's men could not fulfill Didier Six's prophecy and make more history for their country.
