Gameweek11 Premier Fantasy Preview part 2
GettyImagesOscar and Juan Mata are set to link-up for Chelsea on SundayThe three Premier League matches offer a Sunday buffet table filled with potential main course delights and a few delectable desserts.
Sunday, November 11
Chelsea-Liverpool
The second-placed Blues are at home and hope to welcome several players back to the line-up who were missing in the 1-1 draw in the Swansea hailstorm. The most important will be #2 fantasy midfielder Juan Mata who has been out with a hamstring issue. John Terry has served his four-game sentence and is available and Frank Lampard could return. Ashley Cole is an injury doubt. Gary Cahill is ranked a surprising 7th among fantasy defenders. Hazard is ranked 5th for fantasy midfielders.
Chelsea had a tough midweek Champions League game with Shakhtar Donetsk and came away with a thrilling 3-2 result, handing the team from the Ukraine its first loss in a year. Torres got a gift goal, while Oscar was the recipient of the same. Mata played and looked sharp.
Victor Moses, who scored against the Swans and headed in the winner on Wednesday off a Mata corner, is making his case to RDM to do more than come off the bench, but he is still not a fantasy pick to start.
Liverpool-Newcastle
Fantasy managers owning Luis Suarez exhaled with relief at the end of the Reds-Newcastle match. On four YCs, Suarez avoided a fifth, which would have suspended him for the game at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool. However, beyond Suarez, the #2 forward and Gerrard, the 8th best midfielder, there are few fantasy options. Skrtel is 13th among defenders. Suarez remains a fantasy bargain at 8.5. He has 60 fantasy points while Van Persie has 61 and is priced at 10.
Manchester City-Tottenham
What is going though the mind of Roberto Mancini? The Tevez-Balotelli-Dzeko trio up front against West Ham was a disaster (although Tevez should have had at least two assists on goal chances that were blown by others). City’s 0-0 deadlock at West Ham was the first time they had been held scoreless in seven months. Fantasy managers holding Aguero will certainly see him back in the PL lineup when Balotelli and/or Dzeko return to the pines. Although a fantasy failure so far this season (0 goals and 1 assist), David Silva could return from injury. Yaya Toure has looked slow, ponderous and possibly injured in recent weeks but he had a terrific goal in the Champions League match Tuesday. Balotelli should have been awarded a late penalty in the box and earlier linked up well with Aguero who scored, but the Citizen’s defense stinks.
City will play another London team Sunday when AVB brings his 5-2-3 Spurs to the Etihad after a lousy 1-0 loss at home to Wigan. Bale, Dempsey, Defoe, etc. went silent against the Latics. A return of Dembele could help but he is iffy.
Newcastle-West Ham
Fantasy managers holding Andy Carroll are still without a goal from the Pony Tail. Kevin Nolan, the third best fantasy midfielder has four goals and should have five but for an incorrect offside call against Man City. Big Sam has his Hammers in 9th place with a 4-4-3 record.
The Magpies, in 10th place have fantasy managers loving Demba Ba who has seven goals. However, a recurrence of a shin injury forced him out in the 49th minute against Liverpool. He and Cabaye who had a hamstring issue are projected to return for Sunday’s game.
With an assist against the Reds, Ben Arfa has moved up to the 9th best fantasy midfielder. Unrecognizable compared to last season is Papiss Demba Cisse who has scored just one goal in nine matches and is 31st among fantasy forwards.
Ace defender Coloccini begins a three-game suspension and fellow defender Perch could be out weeks with a thigh injury.
