Best Fantasy XI: Gameweek 3

Posted by John Culea

Premier LeaguePA PhotosManchester City midfielder David Silva is picked as Captain of Sir John's likely best team of the week.

Last week's best prediction returned a fairly strong 65 points, certainly better than the pathetic 40 I registered with my regular fantasy failures.

The way this feature works: no budget restraints and no limit on number of players, just the XI I think will do the best in Week 3. Fantasy values are in parenthesis. Chelsea and Aston Villa are idle this week.

Joe Hart, Manchester City home v. Hull (7.5): I picked Hart last week and went down the tubes in the Cardiff disaster. I'll try again at home against low-scoring Hull.

Leighton Baines, Everton at Cardiff (7.8): Uh-oh. The Blues have been giving up goals and Cardiff struck for three against Manchester City. Even so, I think there may be a goal for Baines and a clean sheet.

Pablo Zabaleta, Manchester City home v. Hull (7.3): Zabaleta, part of surrendering the Cardiff treble, but not this week at home.

Brede Hangeland, Fulham at Newcastle (5.8): The tall Cottager will be in defensive lockdown against the woeful Magpies.

David Silva, Manchester City home v. Hull (7.6): Designated captain for the team. Seems to be in form after a crummy season last year.

Yaya Toure, Manchester City home v. Hull (8.4): The big guy should eat up Steve Bruce's side.

Ross Barkley, Everton at Cardiff City (5.7)
A bit of a gamble; however, he takes a lot of shots and might get a couple in this week against awful Newcastle.

Emanuele Giaccherini, Sunderland at Crystal Palace (5.9): The new Black Cat looks pesky and may score against the London team.

Robin van Persie, Manchester United at Liverpool (10.3): The Dutchman is lethal on the road and ready to score after being held by "No mas" Chelsea and has Wayne Rooney in good distribution form.

Sergio Aguero, Manchester City home v. Hull (8.4): Aguero is healthy and ready to pounce on the Tigers.

Edin Dzeko, Manchester City home v. Hull (7.2): Dzeko is happy as a starter and on a roll.

GK: Jussi Jaaskelainen, West Ham home v. Stoke
D: Ryan Shawcross, Stoke at West Ham
M: Michu, Swansea City at WBA
F: Wayne Rooney, Manchester United at Liverpool
