Strategy to replace inactive Chelsea, Villa players

Fantasy managers may want to consider making their transfers for Chelsea and Aston Villa players who were part of a double-fixture this week before Gameweek 2 kicks off on Saturday and not until Chelsea and Villa are idle the following week. Here's why:

In Gameweek 2, Manchester United hosts Chelsea in the Monday game. On paper, it would seem that players like Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Petr Cech, Ashley Cole and Romelu Lukaku will find it difficult to score or defend against United. This will probably be a low-scoring game. Before that match is played, Aston Villa will be hosting Liverpool. The Reds are a strong defensive team and will be a challenge for Christian Benteke and others in the Villa attack. And while Liverpool is not as strong offensively as United, they still offer threats in Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho.

In Gameweek 3, when Chelsea does not play, there are match ups that favour a switch in fantasy players before Gameweek 2. For instance, Manchester City will host Hull. The week before, City will be at Cardiff; not the most challenging games for City. In Gameweek 3, Everton will be at Cardiff, having played WBA at home in Gameweek 2.

Sunderland players present an option for Gameweek 2 as they play at Southampton. Stoke plays at home against Crystal Palace in Gameweek 2 and at West Ham the following week. Norwich could be an option for picking up players since they are at Hull in Gameweek 2 and then home to Southampton. Swansea has two road games with the first on at WBA and the second at Spurs. Everton has a home game against WBA and on the road against Cardiff. West Ham is at Newcastle and home against Stoke. Southampton has matches home against Sunderland and at Norwich.

Here are players to consider transferring in before Gameweek 2 (if you have Chelsea or Villa players):
