Closing Strategy

With the 2012-2013 Premier League Fantasy competition about to end, managers who have conserved transfers can adjust their lineup to take advantage of favorable match-ups.

Several late season injuries and suspensions have taken key players out of contention or made them doubtful for Sunday's games. The players and their value include:

Michel Vorm, Swansea, 6.1
Robert Elliot, Newcastle, 4.0

Ronnie Stam, Wigan, 3.7
Daniel Agger, Liverpool. 6.7
Rafael Da Silva, Manchester United, 6.1
Daniel Fox, Southampton, 3.7
Maynor Figueroa, Wigan. 4.6

Eden Hazard, Chelsea, 8.4
Steven Gerrard, Liverpool, 8.6
Steve Sidwell, Fulham, 5.5
Ashley Young, Manchester United, 7.1
Moussa Sissoko, Newcastle, 5.7
Craig Gardner, Sunderland. 6.2
Stephane Sessegnon, Sunderland, 6.7
Jean Beausejour, Wigan, 6.2
Ramires, Chelsea, 6.4
Gaston Ramirez, Southampton, 5.0
Charlie Adam, Stoke, 5.2

Luis Suarez, Liverpool, 9.3
Christian Benteke, Aston Villa, 8.2
Marc–Antoine Fortune, WBA. 4.5

For managers who have transfers left and budget permitting, the following players should be considered as replacements for value, favorable opponent, and likelihood of starting:

(Best bet) Pepe Reina, Liverpool, 6.4 (QPR away)
Wojciech Szczesny, Arsenal, 6.5 (Newcastle away)

(Best bet) Patrice Evra, Manchester United, 8.2 (WBA away)
Jose Enrique, Liverpool, 7.1 (QPR home)
David Luiz, Chelsea, 8.0 (Everton home)
Per Mertesacker, Arsenal, 7.5 (Newcastle away)
Glen Johnson, Liverpool, 6.9 (QPR home)
Pablo Zabaleta, Manchester City, 7.1 (Norwich home)

(Best bet) Gareth Bale, Tottenham, 10.9 (Sunderland home)
Theo Walcott, Arsenal, 9.0 (Newcastle away)
Frank Lampard, Chelsea, 8.2 (Everton home)
Santi Cazorla, Arsenal, 8.3 (Newcastle away)
Philippe Coutinho, Liverpool, 7.2 (QPR home)
Clint Dempsey, Tottenham, 6.4 (Sunderland home)

(Best bet) Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool, 7.8 (QPR home)
Emmanuel Adebayor, Tottenham, 6.8 (Sunderland home)
Carlos Tevez, Manchester City, 8.5 (Norwich away)
Robin van Persie, Manchester United 10.4 (WBA away)
Andy Carroll, West Ham, 7.0 (Reading home)
Dimitar Berbatov, Fulham, 8.0 (Swansea away)
Olivier Giroud, Arsenal, 7.6 (Newcastle away)
Lukas Podolski, Arsenal, 7.1 (Newcastle away)

Remember to check announced lineups 30 minutes before kickoff. All teams will be listed for you to make last-minute adjustments.

Good luck. I'll have blog entries next week with reflections on the season and throughout the summer offer thoughts to help get us through the wretched months without Premier League football.

Yours faithfully,
Sir John
