JDT hit T-Team for six, stay 11 points clear at top of MSL

Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) moved two matches away from a fourth consecutive Malaysia Super League (MSL) title with a comfortable away win as they comfortably disposed of T-Team in Kuala Terengganu on Saturday night.

JDT recorded their 13th league victory, courtesy of a Gabriel Guerra brace, and additional goals from Mohammed Ghaddar, S. Kunanlan, Fadhli Shas and Gonzalo Cabrera, in a 6-1 romp.

The Southern Tigers led 3-0 at half-time and always were in control, bouncing back from Tuesday's shock 3-2 defeat to Selangor in the Malaysia Cup.

However, most of JDT's potent imports missed that match, and they stamped their authority on the struggling Titans.

The defending champions have now earned 42 out of a possible 51 points this season, with only one defeat in 17 MSL matches

Kedah stayed 11 points behind in second position after a 2-0 win over bottom side Penang, which all but dooms the Panthers to life in the second division next year.

And Perak continued their good recent form under ex-Selangor boss Mehmet Durakovic after seeing off Felda United 1-0 at Shah Alam Stadium.

The sides were facing off only four days after their 1-1 draw on Tuesday in the Malaysia Cup.

Perak raced into an early lead after Felda's veteran Shukor Adan handled in the penalty box in the 11th minute.

Up stepped Yashir Pinto to the spot, and the Palestine forward made no mistake to put the Bos Gaurus ahead.

Felda were without their influential playmaker Zah Rah Krangar, who was serving the last of his two-game suspension for spitting on an opponent in the 2-1 win over Pahang earlier this month.

Without him, the Fighters looked short of creative options, and Perak capitalised by keeping their opponents in their own half.

The Jengka-based side, who were playing at Shah Alam due to maintenance works at their Perak Stadium, could have doubled their lead on the half-hour mark.

Nasir Basharuddin did well to churn out a low cross from the right wing, but Nazrin Nawi could only balloon over from close range.

Nashir was in his element again in the second half, coming close with a half volley which he drove just past Farizal Harun's post.

Gilmar was next to miss another sitter, curling an effort just wide after doing well to make space inside the box.

With the win, Perak move up to fifth spot, a point above Felda in sixth.

Level with Perak in fourth are Selangor, who also maintained their winning run with Amri Yahyah was on target for a second goal in as many games in the 1-0 victory over Kelantan.

Pahang, who saw Dollah Salleh banned for 18 months on Saturday, paid tribute to their coach with a 2- 0 victory over Melaka United.

PKNS FC beat Sarawak 1-0 in an earlier match.
