Home United's Hassan Sunny targets Albirex unbeaten run in S.League

Third-placed Home United will look to cut the eight-point difference between them and leaders Albirex Niigata (S) when the two sides face off in a much-anticipated televised game at Jalan Besar Stadium on Friday night.

The Protectors have enjoyed an excellent campaign -- winning seven, drawing two and losing just one in their first 10 matches. Yet, they find themselves trailing in the title race due to Albirex's imperious form.

The unbeaten White Swans have collected 31 points from a possible 33, with the only blip being a 2-2 draw with Home in April.

Ahead of the big clash, Home captain and goalkeeper Hassan Sunny knows the magnitude of the task on hand as they seek to win their first S.League title since 2003.

"Needless to say, this is an important game for us," the 33-year-old told ESPN FC. "If we want to win the league, we cannot afford to slip up and we have to take points from every game to close the gap.

"Albirex's a strong team, but our team have good quality as well. We got to go out there, believe in each other and fight as a team till the end to get the result we want."

Feeling refreshed from a 10-day holiday in his native Croatia during the international break, Protectors forward Stipe Plazibat is looking forward to continue his red-hot scoring streak which saw him plunder 14 league goals in eight starts.

"I'm in a good place at the moment, but I need to make sure I keep pushing and performing at the same level until the end of the season," the 27-year-old told Home's official website.

"I love this team and I love this club with a passion. I love being here and I'm very grateful for the support of the fans this season.

"As a team, we're coming into this game in good shape, we've been working hard and we all feel well prepared. I'm confident we can perform really well and put in a big performance on the night."

The last time both sides met, quickfire first-half goals from Plazibat and Faris Ramli put Home in the driving seat. But Albirex rallied and managed to salvage a late 2-2 draw through Tsubasa Sano and Kento Nagasaki at Bishan Stadium.

It could be a similarly enthralling affair in store at Jalan Besar, with both sides averaging more than three goals per game in 2017.
