Singapore, Malaysia rise in FIFA rankings with Philippines top in ASEAN

Malaysia remain two spots ahead of Singapore in the latest FIFA rankings after both nations rose three places over the past month.

The Malaysians are 155th on the list, with Singapore in 157th.

The latest figures come as both nations prepare for crucial matches in AFC Asian Cup qualifying this month.

Philippines are still Southeast Asia's top-ranked country, but AFF Suzuki Cup champions Thailand are now breathing down their necks.

The Azkals are in 125th, one position about the Thais, who are the only ASEAN nation to have made the final round of 2018 AFC World Cup qualification.

Indonesia, who returned to international action after a year-long FIFA ban, rose two spots to 175th, just behind Cambodia in 174th.

But Vietnam were the region's biggest riser, leaping five rungs to 131st, while Laos rose four places to 172nd and Myanmar improved three spots to 163rd.

With Brazil maintaining their No. 1 position over Argentina and world champions Germany, the top-ranked nations from the Asian confederation are Iran in 30th, followed by South Korea (43) Japan (45) and Australia (48).
