Lim Kia Tong vs. Bill Ng confirmed for historic Singapore elections

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has confirmed the nominations of the two parties who will be vying to lead the nation's football for the next four years.

A significant milestone will be reached on April 29 when the FAS elects its council for the first time in history.

Since amendments to the previous constitution allowed for such an election, there has been plenty of speculation about who would step forward and throw their names into the hat.

Now, the FAS confirmed that two applications have been received on a slate basis while 16 applied on an individual basis.

The incumbent leaders will be represented by Team LKT,, including several members who were part of the previous regime under former president Zainudin Nordin.

Team LKT will be led by Lim Kia Tong, president of the provisional council of FAS, while Bernard Tan and Edwin Tong, are both his current vice-presidents.

Other notable names in their party include Teo Hock Seng, ex-chairman of S.League giants Tampines Rovers, Balestier Khalsa chairman S. Thavaneson and former Singapore international Razali Saad.

They will be up against Game Changers, the team spearheaded by Hougang United chairman Bill Ng.

Ng's slate has former Geylang International vice-chairman Lau Kok Keng listed as his deputy, while other members include current Tampines Rovers' chairman Krishna Ramachandra and Annabel Pennefather, vice-president of the Singapore National Olympic Council.

In addition to the two slates, 16 other individuals will hope to earn a seat on the council by themselves.

The list includes Edward Liu, former chairman of now-defunct S.League side Tanjong Pagar United and ex-Singapore internationals Lim Tong Hai and Shahri Rahim, among others.

A three-man electoral committee will now perform integrity checks to determine each candidate's eligibility to run.

A final list will be announced at least 10 days before the election date of April 29.
