Sundramoorthy, Duric back Jordan Webb for Singapore's Suzuki Cup tilt

Canadian-born Jordan Webb is good enough to make a big impact for Singapore in November's AFF Suzuki Cup, according to his Tampines Rovers coach V. Sundramoorthy and fellow national legend Aleksandar Duric.

The 27-year-old winger is facing a nervous wait for his citizenship to be approved, having lived in Singapore since 2010.

Webb has impressed with his performances alongside ex-Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant and former A-League striker Billy Mehmet for Tampines Rovers this season. The Stags are away to Selangor in the AFC Cup on Tuesday night.

"I feel he will be a great inclusion to the national team and possibly this year's AFF Suzuki Cup squad," his coach Sundramoorthy told Today.

"I hope that it all works out for Jordan soon because he has improved in all aspects of his game since he first played in the S.League."

Bosnian-born Duric, who played 53 times for Singapore after gaining his citizenship in 2007, added: "I can't see any problem for him to fit into the national team.

"He is part of the next generation of football talents to come through for the Singapore national team."

Webb, who played for the Italia Shooters in the Canadian Soccer League, was hoping to be eligible for Singapore selection last year.

"Honestly, I don't know what's going on," said the 27-year-old, whose fiancee is currently in Canada.

"This is really hard and things are not really in my control.

"The FAS and the immigration authorities are liaising on this matter and all I can do is just wait.

"It's a frustrating situation but life goes on."

Webb joined Tampines Rovers this season after previous spells with Hougang United, Home United and Young Lions. At Hougang, he scored 33 goals in 77 appearances between 2010 and 2012 to give a hint of his potential.
