Robert Lewandowski has urged Bayern Munich to sign a backup striker to ease his workload.
Lewandowski, 29, returned to club training on Tuesday after missing two friendly internationals to rest a thigh injury.
He suggested the muscle problem might be linked to his club's lack of a back-up striker, forcing him into almost constant action.
And he told Sport Bild: "It would definitely be an option to sign a hungry, young striker who wants to learn from an experienced player.
"It would be a relief for me to play 15 or 20 minutes less in a game, then you have more energy for forthcoming games and a higher probability of staying fit and minimising the risk of injury."
However, Bayern's top scorer said he realised it would not be straightforward to find a quality backup who was content to sit on the bench.
"Of course, the club hierarchy will decide which striker is worth considering, but clearly we aren't talking about a top international striker," he said.
"Forwards of this calibre want to be on the pitch themselves during the season's decisive games."
Sport Bild suggested Arsenal's Olivier Giroud, 31, could serve as an experienced deputy and also mooted 20-year-old Ajax forward Kasper Dolberg as a candidate.
Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus has made the case for Hertha Berlin's Vedad Ibisevic but Anthony Modeste, formerly of Cologne and now playing in China, has said he would not consider a move.
"I'm not someone who sits on the bench behind Lewandowski," he told Express.
"You can train as well as you want, but you would only ever be his replacement.
"I am 29 years old and have no time to lose. Although I would be German champion with Bayern, I would not gain anything from it."
Meanwhile, Franck Ribery trained with the German champions for the first time since suffering ligament damage on Oct. 1.
Ribery, 34, twisted a knee in the draw at Hertha Berlin last month and has not played under new coach Jupp Heynckes.
The winger, an integral part of Heynckes' 2013 Treble-winning side, wrote on Twitter: "Back in team training today."
